Unmerry Friday

"I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear."

"Love is the most durable power in the world."

“Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend.”

The events in Charlottesville has put me in a world of shock. The fact that so many people have so much hatred in their hearts is just unreal to me. As a black American, I am incredibly terrified for my future and the future of all of those affected by hatred and racism. That being said, the amount of righteous anger and people rallying together to fight against the Nazis, the KKK, and the racists has been really beautiful, heart warming, and encouraging.

"To ignore evil is to become accomplice to it."

"In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies but the silence of our friends."

"There comes a time when silence is betrayal."

When my brother showed me this really important video that you need to watch immediately if you haven't already, I immediately wanted to do something, but I didn't know what to do. I think the only thing that I can do right now (and probably the best thing to do) is to speak out against the hate and racism, and it's important that you do the same. My heart was incredibly, incredibly blessed when Kelly from Studio DIY spoke out against the hate and stood up for what is right. Her blog post was really encouraging and she shared a lot of important links (including the really important video that you need to watch immediately if you haven't already) that you should check out. She has a platform to speak out from and so do I and so do you. Just speak out. It doesn't have to be eloquent or longwinded. Say you don't support racism, share a quote from MLK Jr., or post this video - just say something. If someone else starts a conversation about it, don't stay silent - speak out! I can tell you right now that it really does make a world of difference.

Speak out.

DIY Scramble Laundry Bag

Monday, August 21, 2017

Growing up, my mom would always remind me to pack a dirty clothes bag when we traveled (meaning I would get a large black trash bag). With her being three and a half hours away from me, I always forget, and my dirty clothes always end up mixed with my clean clothes. I've had my eye on this laundry bag for a while; but sadly, it's long gone. The only one left that's even a little similar is this one. I decided to make one myself and I'm super glad I did.

I just discovered that I get to have unlimited lazer tag, dance dance revolution, and arcade games once a week for the summer so I'm pretty happy with life.

this rosemary, honey, grapefruit spritzer looks pretty spectacular and delish.

I got a new floral laptop sleeve and I think it's the bees knees (but I got a seam ripper and ripped off the tag).

here's a tutorial for some beautiful diy bouquets.

this dress is incredible and I need an occasion to wear it. also some spare change.

this diy privacy wall is pretty groovy.

Beach Day Buys

Thursday, June 1, 2017

01 / 02 / 03 / 04 / 05 / 06

(I am crazy in love with this towel and Mindy's book is my current read. It's pretty great.)

I haven't been to the beach since last year at a bachelorette party, and I really want to go. I think I really just want to be in the water so really this could be called "lake day buys" or "pool day buys." Someone take me to the waterrrr.

diy copper and marble vase

Monday, May 29, 2017

I think my current favorite color scheme is black, white, and grey with copper accents. I find myself wanting to make more and more projects with those colors so I've finally decided to give into temptation. Next semester, my dorm will be black, grey, white, "minimalist pink" and copper which means I basically need to completely redo my dorm (meaning more diys! hooray!). these vases were an easy start.
