The Big Break

Thursday, September 8, 2016

I used to wonder why I couldn't be like bigger blogs like Homey Oh My or Almost Makes Perfect, but I now realize that it's because those bloggers are big girls. They're grown up grown ups.

They have apartments - I have a dorm.
They have actual jobs - I have a mountain of student loans.
THEY'RE NOT IN SCHOOL. I'M STILL IN SCHOOL

School just consumes soooo much of my time. Almost of all of it. I both transferred schools and switched majors and I have a buttload of work to do. I wish I could dedicate more of my time to blogging, but I really, really can't. At least not yet. I want to do the best that I can do while I am in school and if I ever catch a spare moment, I'm probably going to use it to do some freelance work or grow my etsy shop (because let's be honest. blogging's not going to make me any money for a long while).

that being said, I will absolutely keep posting in my spare time. I've been invited by skillshare to teach a virtual crafting class (YOU SHOULD ABSOLUTELY SIGN UP) and instructables has asked me to participate in some of their themed projects. I'll of course try to post as much as possible because I really do enjoy blogging.

If you want to keep up with me and be notified of new posts you can subscribe by email, or follow me on bloglovin', instagram, twitter, or like my page on facebook.

diy splattered wood coasters

Wednesday, August 10, 2016

If you were here Monday, you saw this post mentioning my kitchen wants. I'm going to start doing tiny things to reach my kitchen goals and I decided I needed coasters. I came across these west elm rain coasters and knew I needed them. I also knew I could make them and it would be much cheaper (which really worked out because theirs had a gold rim and I wanted a copper rim).

diy mini notepads

Thursday, July 28, 2016

I'm a notebook / notepad junkie. I love to take notes in church or class or just doodle for fun. I've always been a compulsive list maker and notes are just a wonderful thing. I also LOVE couponing! Unfortunately, sometimes I can only print one coupon a page and I can't justify throwing away the rest of the paper after I cut them out so I have a bunch of paper scraps. I wasn't sure what to do with them until I had to use rubber cement for a collage project for a design class. Thus birthed these mini notepads.

materials

paper scraps
notepad covers
binder clips
rubber cement
watercolors (optional)

step 1. stack your paper scraps together (I made a template for those, too, so they can all be the exact same size.) and clip them together with binder clips.

step 2. brush the top edge with rubber cement.

step 3 (optional). brush the sides with watercolor.

step 4. print to the notepad cover onto cardstock. stack it on top of the paper and brush rubber cement along the top edge to attach it.

these notepads fit really easily in a purse and make fantastic gifts! they also tear out pretty smoothly. and they're cute.

melissa is getting married tomorrow and wedding planning is very draining and i'm tired.

Geometric planters like this make a super cute present for your plant lover friend. Or you can make these simple and purty mod cloth inspired planters.
I want this bath mat because it looks super comfy for my toes and the color is purty.
I want to have my own room so I can make my own gold cactus wallpaper.
This "thrifted" chair diy is super fantastic but the back story of her accidentally stealing it is quite humorous.

Welcome Back, Me

Monday, May 30, 2016

I've been gone far too long. Much has been happening since you've heard from me last, so here are a bunch of updates.

1. I got all A's and B's this semester and I'm so relieved even though I really hate B's.

2. I am transferring to a different school AND CHANGING MY MAJOR TO GRAPHIC DESIGN. It was such a relief to finally figure out what I'm supposed to be doing with my life.

3. I am being super adventurous this summer and I now live in an apartment that originally reminded me of a hospital but I'm cleaning it up and starting to like it.

4. I redid the look of my blog. again. I think I'm going to stick with this one (I'm at least going to try) for a long while, but I'm tempted to change the colors so beware.

5. I started branding for people and doing web design and blog templates and wedding sites and I. LOVE. IT. This is going to be the website eventually but for now you can buy things at the etsy shop. If you want coupon codes or discounts just subscribe on the website. You can email me there if you're interested in branding or custom blog templates or web design, too.

6. I'm going to start posting again! CONSISTENTLY.  A new diy is coming up Wednesday so get ready. I will be spending a lot more time doing blog stuff (including redoing some old posts because I know some of them are rough.)

That's pretty much everything. I'm very excited to be back.
